There are plenty of electric SUVs to consider. The ZEEKR 7GT asks a rather appealing question: what if you would prefer a wagon?

The long roof and lower stance are the attraction before we get anywhere near a specification sheet. A car can look purposeful without looking as though it is about to climb a mountain.

ZEEKR’s Australian website already has a 7GT model page and a registration-of-interest form. That is a useful local signal. The fine print is equally useful: registering is not an order and does not guarantee availability or priority.

So this belongs on the watchlist, rather than in a promise about what you can collect next week.

There is substance to investigate. The Australian page advertises a 10–80 per cent charge in as little as 15 minutes using a 420kW charger, limited to the Long Range RWD and Performance AWD versions. It also describes 20-inch GT wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres.

Those are manufacturer claims and equipment descriptions, not WattCar test results. The site cautions that specification and availability can vary by market. We would want the final Australian specification before treating the preview as the showroom car.

A charging headline is a starting point. How often will a buyer find the right charger? What battery conditions does the claim require? What happens during a normal stop on a route you actually drive?

The wagon shape raises its own questions. How useful is the load space with real luggage? Can adults settle comfortably in the back? Does a low-looking roofline make everyday access awkward? We need the Australian car to answer those properly.

And the sporting promise needs a road. Steering feel, ride comfort and tyre noise cannot be settled by a photograph, however handsome the photograph happens to be.

We are deliberately leaving a speculative Australian price and delivery date out of this story. As checked on 16 October, the local page remains an expression-of-interest destination. Confirm the current offer, final equipment and delivery terms with ZEEKR before making a purchase decision.

Worth waiting for? Worth keeping on the shortlist, certainly, especially if your ideal EV has a long roof rather than a tall one.

Worth postponing a car you need now? That needs a confirmed local deal, a proper look inside and a drive.
