WATT MATTERS?

The BMW iX2 takes the compact electric SUV and gives it a more coupe-like silhouette. It is less about extra practicality than making a familiar family-sized EV look and feel a little more individual. The price of that sharper roofline is worth weighing against the roomier iX1.

THE BASICS

A five-seat electric SUV with a 64.8kWh battery in the xDrive30 version, all-wheel drive and a claimed range of up to 395km WLTP. Its sloping rear roof gives it a sportier profile than the iX1, but buyers should compare rear-seat and luggage practicality before deciding.

THE WATTCAR TAKE

The iX2 makes sense if you like the idea of a compact electric BMW but want something with more visual personality. The iX1 is the more straightforward choice; the iX2 asks you to value design enough to accept the trade-offs.
