WATT MATTERS?
The C10 Hybrid EV offers a large electric SUV experience with a petrol-powered generator for longer journeys. It blurs the usual choice between a full EV and a plug-in hybrid.
THE BASICS
Unlike a conventional PHEV, the range-extender arrangement uses the petrol engine to produce electricity rather than directly drive the wheels. Electric-only and combined range figures must be reported separately.

THE WATTCAR TAKE
For drivers who can charge at home but regularly venture beyond fast-charging networks, the concept has merit. Whether it is preferable to a simpler EV depends on actual usage and running costs.
