The Zeekr takes the overall edge on our criteria: more claimed output, a higher declared WLTP range and more ambitious charging hardware, with air suspension in this grade. Tesla counters with a lower purchase price and a familiar software-led ownership proposition. The Zeekr earns the higher rating here, but the Tesla is the more restrained buy if those extras will rarely be used.
Named grades: Zeekr 7X Performance AWD MY26 and Tesla Model Y Premium RWD MY27. No WattCar firsthand drive is implied.
Figures apply to the named grades where the canonical record establishes that match. Reported estimates and manufacturer targets are identified alongside their figures. Different range cycles cannot be directly compared. Boot figures use rear seats upright where recorded; differing measurement standards are identified and cannot be treated as directly comparable. Assessment scope: Australian model range; grade distinctions retained. Price anchor: Zeekr 7X Performance AWD MY26
Rating rationale: Half-point assessment recognises the performance and cabin-equipment advantage over Model Y RWD, while published suspension and door-usability criticisms prevent a 9.0. The extra purchase price remains a meaningful compromise.

Assessment scope: Australian TESLA MODEL Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive MY27 grade only. Price anchor: Premium Rear-Wheel Drive MY27
Rating rationale: Family utility and the retained software/integration editorial case keep it highly competitive. Its current entry range, pricing and stronger rivals in cabin finish and value prevent an automatic benchmark-winning score.
